Audax Italiano 1-0 Everton: Los Itálicos sneak narrow home success
Audax Italiano snatched all three points from Everton Viña del Mar in a narrow 1-0 victory on Saturday, at Estadio Municipal de La Florida. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Audax Italiano arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a 3-3 draw with Palestino in their previous game. Everton secured a point against U. Católica in their previous match. As the table looks today, Audax Italiano and Everton currently occupy 7th and 8th spots in the league, with 30 points and 29 points respectively after 22 matches.
Following a goalless first half, Audax Italiano applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Luis Riveros gave Audax Italiano the lead, 82 minutes in, which sealed the victory for Audax Italiano.
Substitutions for Audax Italiano included German Estigarribia, Tomas Andrade, Diego Torres and Pablo Alvarado for Gonzalo Alvarez, Jorge Henriquez, Matias Sepulveda and Michael Fuentes, repectively. Everton brought on Victor Sosa, Felipe Campos, Cesar Valenzuela and Janner Corozo, to replace Bryan Carvallo, Cristopher Medina, Rodrigo Diaz and John Michael Salas Torres.
The referee booked Carlos Labrin from Audax Italiano. Everton had the worst of it though, with Bryan Carvallo seeing yellow, and Cesar Valenzuela then sent off with a red.
Audax Italiano will next play Unión Española away, with Everton facing La Serena at home.
