Reading 3-0 Blackburn: The Royals thump Rovers at the Madejski Stadium

Reading ease to a comfortable 3-0 win at the Madejski Stadium. Reading were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 4-0 to Rotherham United whilst Blackburn were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City. After today’s result, Reading and Blackburn sit 8th, (6 points) and 1st, (9 points), in the league respectively, after 4 matches.

The Royals started the match well, when Tom McIntyre opened the rout at the 14 minute mark, saw out the first half 1-0.

Reading continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Junior Hoilett, 61 minutes in. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Lucas Joao, 78 minutes in with a final score of 3-0.

Substitutions for Reading included Lucas Joao, Kelvin Abrefa and John Clarke for Shane Long, Nesta Guinness-Walker and Junior Hoilett, repectively. Blackburn brought on Bradley Dack, Sam Gallagher, Ryan Hedges, Tayo Edun and Tyler Morton, to replace Tyrhys Dolan, Jack Vale, Sammie Szmodics, Ben Brereton and Ashley Phillips.

There were bookings for Tyrese Fornah, Tom Holmes, Nesta Guinness-Walker, Joe Lumley and Mamadou Loum from Reading. For Blackburn, Harry Pickering and Daniel Ayala saw yellow.

Reading will play their next fixture at home against Middlesbrough, while Blackburn will face Sheffield United away.
