QPR 3-0 Cardiff: Dykes brace guides the R’s to easy home win
Queens Park Rangers defeated Cardiff City 3-0 on Wednesday at Loftus Road Stadium. Both QPR and Cardiff came from defeats in their previous league games. QPR were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 3-1 to Luton Town. Cardiff had lost their previous match against Coventry City. QPR and Cardiff currently occupy 1st and 18th spots in the league, with 27 points and 18 points respectively after 16 matches.
Rangers found the net first, when Lyndon Dykes opened the rout, at 19 minutes. QPR then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a second effort from Lyndon Dykes in the 33rd minute, finishing the first half 2-0.
QPR continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, when Kenneth Paal found the net, 74 minutes in. The match ended with a 3-0 home victory.
Substitutions for QPR included Andre Dozzell, Luke Amos, Macauley Bonne, Osman Kakay and Taylor Richards for Sinclair Armstrong, Tim Iroegbunam, Lyndon Dykes, Ethan Laird and Ilias Chair, respectively. Cardiff brought on Curtis Nelson, Tom Sang, Mark Thomas Harris, Joe Ralls and Jaden Philogene-Bidace, to replace Romaine Sawyers, Perry Ng, Callum Robinson, Ryan Wintle and Callum O’Dowda.
The referee booked Stefan Johansen and Kenneth Paal from QPR. Cardiff had the worst of it though, with Perry Ng, Curtis Nelson, Niels Nkounkou, Ryan Wintle and Mark Thomas Harris seeing yellow, and Jack Simpson then sent off with a red.
QPR will play their next fixture at home against Wigan Athletic, while Cardiff will face Swansea City away.
