Millwall 2-1 Blackpool: Afobe lifts The Lions to home win
Blackpool on away loss to Millwall at the Den on Saturday. Both Millwall and Blackpool came from defeats in their previous league games. Millwall arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing their last match 2-0 to Queens Park Rangers. Blackpool were beaten 3-0 in their previous match against Rotherham United. Millwall are now in 13th place on the table and have 13 points while Blackpool sit in 19th with 11 points after 11 matches.
It was an impressive opening from The Lions, when Daniel Grimshaw found the net, 14 minutes in. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Charlie Patino equalised for Blackpool in the 33rd minute, which brought Michael Appleton’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break
Millwall rallied after this and were rewarded, when Benik Afobe found the net on the 63 minute mark. The match ended with a 2-1 victory for Millwall.
Both managers used the full entitlement. Substitutions for Millwall included Danny McNamara and Tom Bradshaw for George Honeyman and Zian Flemming, respectively, Blackpool brought on Jordan Gabriel, Ian Poveda, CJ Hamilton and Sonny Carey to replace Callum Connolly, Jerry Yates, James Husband and Charlie Patino.
There were bookings for Jake Cooper and Murray Wallace from Millwall, and Charlie Patino and Theodor Corbeanu, for Blackpool.
