Huddersfield 1-0 Cardiff: The Terriers edge the Bluebirds in tense clash

Cardiff City on away loss to Huddersfield at John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday. Huddersfield were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 2-1 to Wigan Athletic. Cardiff, meanwhile, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-2 victory against Middlesbrough. Huddersfield are now in 23rd place on the table and have 7 points while Cardiff sit in 18th with 11 points after 11 matches.

Huddersfield opened the score, when Jordan Rhodes gave them the lead, 8 minutes in, finishing the first half 1-0. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for Huddersfield included Danny Ward, Patrick Jones, Sorba Thomas and Luke Mbete-Tatu for Faustino Anjorin, Jack Rudoni, Duane Holmes and Jordan Rhodes, respectively. Cardiff brought on Mark Thomas Harris, Romaine Sawyers, Rubin Colwill, Tom Sang and Sheyi Ojo, to replace Niels Nkounkou, Jaden Philogene-Bidace, Mahlon Romeo, Perry Ng and Andy Rinomhota.

The referee booked David Kasumu, Patrick Jones and Lee Nicholls for Huddersfield.

Huddersfield will play away against Reading, while Cardiff will face Burnley at home.
