Burnley 3-3 Blackpool: Seasiders fight back for good draw at Turf Moor

On Saturday, Burnley and Blackpool were held to a 3-3 draw at Turf Moor. Burnley arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 1-1 draw against Hull City. Blackpool were coming from a 1-0 win against Queens Park Rangers. After today’s result, Burnley and Blackpool currently occupy 14th and 13th spots in the league, with 5 points and 6 points respectively after 5 matches.

The Clarets started strongly in the first half, with an early goal from Josh Brownhill in the 3rd minute. Burnley looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Nathan Tella at the 11 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However, Blackpool weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Theodor Corbeanu at the 21 minute mark. Burnley in turn, then responded, at 33 minutes increasing their lead with a 2nd effort from Nathan Tella, ending the first half 3-1.

Blackpool took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Shayne Lavery in the 74th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Jerry Yates made it 3-3 in the 76th minute to make it 3-3.

Substitutions for Burnley included Ashley Barnes, Darko Churlinov, Samuel Bastien and Manuel Benson for Jay Rodriguez, Vitinho, Nathan Tella and Joshua Cullen, repectively. Blackpool brought on Gary Madine, James Husband, CJ Hamilton, Sonny Carey and Matty Virtue, to replace Theodor Corbeanu, Dominic Thompson, Shayne Lavery, Jordan Gabriel and Jerry Yates.

The referee booked from Burnley Joshua Cullen and from Blackpool Dominic Thompson, Callum Connolly and Kenny Dougall. Both teams also had a sending off, with Ian Maatsen for Burnley and Sonny Carey for Blackpool.

Burnley will next play Wigan Athletic away, with Blackpool facing Bristol City at home.
