Corinthians banked all three points against the Santos FC in a 1-0 victory on Sunday, at Urbano Caldeira. Both Santos and Corinthians arrived on the back of wins. Santos had been hopeful of continuing their good run after winning their previous two games against Red Bull Bragantino away and Juventude at home, by 2-0 and 4-1 respectively. Corinthians were coming off the back of a 2-1 win against Athletico Paranaense. Santos and Corinthians currently occupy 12th and 4th spots in the table, with 43 points and 57 points respectively after 33 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Corinthians continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Roger Guedes gave them the lead just before the full time. They managed to close the match out with a clean sheet and a well-earned of 1-0 victory.

Substitutions for Santos included Lucas Henrique Barbosa, Auro, Derick, Sandry and Miguelito for Rodrigo Fernandez, Madson, Luiz Felipe, Ed Carlos de Arruda Amorim and Angelo, respectively. Corinthians brought on Bruno Mendez, Du Queiroz, Roni, Ramiro and Mateus Vital, to replace Rafael Ramos, Giuliano, Fausto Vera, Maycon and Gustavo Da Silva.

Santos and Corinthians played a rough match where the referee sanctioned Santos with yellow cards to Lucas Henrique Barbosa and Lucas Braga and with red card to Lucas Henrique Barbosa (2 yellow cards), while from Corinthians Fausto Vera, Yuri Alberto, Fabian Balbuena and Cassio were booked and red to Yuri Alberto (2 yellow cards).
