Palmeiras 4-0 Fortaleza: Leaders romp to big success at Allianz Parque
Palmeiras banked all three points against the Fortaleza EC in a 4-0 victory on Thursday, at Allianz Parque. Both sides arrived on the back of wins. Palmeiras were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two games against Athletico Paranaense away and Avai at home, by 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. Fortaleza, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-1 victory against Coritiba. Palmeiras and Fortaleza sit 1st, (77 points) and 10th, (48 points), in the league respectively, after 35 matches.
Palmeiras dominated the first half, when Rony opened the rout, at 15 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Dudu made it 2-0 on the 32 minute mark, which saw the first half end 2-0.
Palmeiras staged a comeback in the second half, with an early second effort from Rony in the 48th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa in the 64th minute to make it 4-0.
Substitutions for Palmeiras included Bruno Tabata, Gabriel Menino, Miguel Merentiel, Jose Manuel Lopez and Mayke for Gustavo Scarpa, Danilo, Endrick Felipe Moreira de Sousa, Rony and Dudu, respectively. Fortaleza replaced Hercules Pereira Do Nascimento, Marcelo Benevenuto, Silvio Romero, Fabricio Baiano and Jose Welison with Romarinho, Titi, Thiago Galhardo, Lucas Crispim and Caio Alexandre.
There were bookings for Danilo, Gustavo Scarpa and Ze Rafael from Palmeiras, and Titi, for Fortaleza.
Palmeiras will next travel to Cuiaba, while Fortaleza will face Atlético Goianense at home.
