Juventude 2-2 Flamengo: Flamengo denied as struggling hosts dig in

Juve were helde ach other to a 2-2 draw by Flamengo on Thursday at Alfredo Jaconi. Both teams came from defeats in their previous league games. Juve were looking forward to playing again after losing 1-0 to Goiás EC in their previous fixture. Flamengo were beaten 1-0 in their previous match against Coritiba. Juve are now in 20th place, with 22 points from 37 matches, while Flamengo sit in 5th, with 62 points from 37.

Flamengo started the first half well, with an early goal from Matheuzinho in the 1st minute. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Paulo Henrique, 36 minutes in, brought Juve level. However they weren’t finished yet and Jadson made it 2-1 just before half-time, finishing the first half 2-1.

Flamengo took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Werton Almeida just before the full time, seing the match finish 2-2.

Substitutions for Juve included Rafael Rech, Rodrigo, Ruan Pereira Duarte and Para for Felipe Pires, Dudu, Capixaba and Jean Irmer, respectively. Flamengo brought on Guillermo Varela, Mateusao, Kayke David Pereira and Werton Almeida for Rodinei, Victor Hugo Gomes Silva, Matheuzinho and Matheus Franca.

There were bookings for Capixaba, Jadson, Vitor Mendes, Jean Irmer, Chico and Paulo Henrique from Juve, and Joao Gomes, Ayrton Lucas and Mateusao, for Flamengo.

Juve will next play Ceará away, with Flamengo facing Avai at home.
