Goiás 1-0 Coritiba: Hosts hold out after Coritiba reduced to ten men
Goiás EC snatched all three points from Coritiba in a 1-0 victory on Saturday, at Estádio da Serrinha. Goiás arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 3-3 draw against São Paulo. Coritiba, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Cuiaba. As it stands, both teams are on 22 points and occupy 14th and 13th places respectively after 20 matches.
After an uneventful first half, Goiás piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Pedro Raul in the 80th minute, leaving the final score at 1-0.
Substitutions for Goiás included Danilo Barcelos, Danilo Cardoso, Caio, Renato Junior and Henrique Lordelo for Juan Pablo, Lucas Halter, Auremir, Nicolas and Vinicius, repectively. Coritiba replaced Bruno Gomes, Adrian Martinez and Guillermo De los Santos for Jesus Trindade, Leo Gamalho and Regis.
The referee booked Maguinho from Goiás. Coritiba had the worst of it though, with Adrian Martinez and Willian Farias seeing yellow, and Egidio then sent off with a red.
Goiás will next play Palmeiras away, with Coritiba facing Santos FC at home.
