Fortaleza 2-0 Avai: Hosts comfortable against struggling Avai

Avai fell to an away defeat at the hands of Fortaleza EC at Estadio Castelao on Sunday. Fortaleza were aiming to improve their league standing following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Athletico Paranaense in their previous game whilst Avai were beaten 2-1 in their previous match against Botafogo. Fortaleza and Avai are 10th, (41 points) and 19th, (28 points), in the table respectively, after 31 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Fortaleza certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, thanks to a goal from Thiago Galhardo, at 54 minutes. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Hercules Pereira Do Nascimento just before the full time to give a final score of 2-0.

Substitutions for Fortaleza included Pedro Rocha, Hercules Pereira Do Nascimento, Robson, Romarinho and Jose Welison for Lucas Crispim, Romulo Otero, Moises Vieira da Veiga, Thiago Galhardo and Lucas Sasha, respectively. Avai brought on Romulo dos Santos, Pablo Dyego, Sarara, Nathan Palafoz de Sousa and Jean Cleber, to replace Kevin, Marcinho, Lucas Ventura, Jean Pyerre and Bruno Silva.

There were bookings for Tinga from Fortaleza. For Avai, Bruno Silva saw yellow.

Fortaleza will next travel to America Mineiro, while Avai will face Fluminense at home.
