Flamengo 1-2 Fluminense: Visitors win big duel at the Maracana
Fluminense eased past Flamengo in a 2-1 victory on Sunday at Maracana. Flamengo were on the hunt for more points after a 1-1 draw against Goiás EC. Fluminense were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Fortaleza EC. Flamengo and Fluminense currently occupy 4th and 2nd spots in the table, with 45 points and 48 points respectively after 27 matches.
Fluminense started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Ganso gave them the lead just before half-time, saw out the first half 1-0.
Fluminense continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, with a goal from Nathan, 76 minutes in. Flamengo in turn, then responded on the 84 minute mark, grabbing the lead with an effort from Gabriel Barbosa, leaving the final score at 2-1.
Substitutions for Flamengo included Everton, Arturo Vidal, Marinho, Victor Hugo Gomes Silva and Matheus Franca for Giorgian De Arrascaeta, Joao Gomes, Everton Ribeiro, Thiago Maia and Rodinei, respectively.
