Coritiba 0-1 Mineiro: Visitors strike late to win at Estadio Couto Pereira

Atl. Mineiro’s 1-0 win over Coritiba on Sunday, was hard fought at Estadio Couto Pereira. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Coritiba were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last match 2-1 to Santos FC. Mineiro, on the other hand, lost 3-2 in the last match they played against Athletico Paranaense. After today’s result, Coritiba and Mineiro sit 17th, (22 points) and 6th, (35 points), in the league respectively, after 22 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Mineiro continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, when Alan Kardec gave Mineiro the lead just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 1-0.

Substitutions for Coritiba included Natanael, Regis, Adrian Martinez, Jesus Trindade and Guilherme Biro for Matheus Alexandre, Gabriel Boschilia, Fabricio Daniel, Leo Gamalho and Jose Hugo Sousa dos Santos, repectively. Mineiro brought on Pedrinho, Alan Kardec, Ignacio Fernandez, Ademir and Rubens for Jair, Hulk, Matias Zaracho, Cristian Pavon and Keno.

The referee booked Matheus Alexandre, Willian Farias and Luciano Castan for Coritiba.

Coritiba will next travel to Fluminense, while Mineiro will face Goiás EC at home.
