Ceará 0-2 São Paulo: Visitors steal the show at Estadio Castelao
Ceará fell to a home defeat at the hands of São Paulo at Estadio Castelao on Sunday. Ceará were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run, following a 2-1 victory against Santos FC while São Paulo had secured a point against Corinthians in their previous match. Ceará and São Paulo currently occupy 14th and 13th spots in the league, with 31 points and 34 points respectively after 27 matches.
São Paulo started the first half well, when Jonathan Calleri gave them the lead, 23 minutes in to see out the first half 1-0.
São Paulo continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, with a goal from Nahuel Bustos just before the final whistle. The final result, Ceará 0, São Paulo 2.
Substitutions for Ceará included Gabriel Lacerda, Guilherme Castilho, Ze Roberto, Jhon Vasquez and Diego for Richardson, Vinicius Goes, Jo, Nino Paraiba and Victor Luis, respectively. São Paulo brought on Nahuel Bustos, Giuliano Galoppo, Igor Vinicius, Marcos Guilherme and Igor Gomes, to replace Luciano, Rodrigo Nestor, Rafinha, Alisson and Patrick.
The referee booked nine players. Joao Ricardo, Jo, Gabriel Lacerda, Nino Paraiba and Richard from Ceará, who saw yellow cards and Luiz Otavio and Ze Roberto, sent off with a red, as well as for São Paulo Rodrigo Nestor and Luciano also seeing yellows.
Ceará will next travel to Coritiba, while São Paulo will face Avai at home.
